There was a popular advert for a large bank on television not too long ago that posed the question:
“How much is enough?”
Many of us don’t know the answer to this question and, worryingly, many of us won’t know the answer until much later in our lives, when we’ve stopped earning a salary and we find that we simply don’t have enough.
What I would like to encourage you to think about is your own retirement plan, and whether it is sufficient to afford a comfortable lifestyle when you retire.
According to statistics, only about 2 out of every 10 South Africans have saved an adequate amount for their retirement.
The sooner you can start saving for your retirement, the more you can leverage the power of compound interest, and the less you will have to save from your income every month. Although it is never too late to start saving for the future, I want to spur you to do more now so that you can relax during your golden years.
It’s never too early or too late to plan for the future.
Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. Don’t deny yourself the best possible future by neglecting to plan for the unpredictable.
Even if you do have a retirement plan in place, I am happy to review this with you and see what we can do to improve your chances of a relaxed retirement when the time comes.
